Dylan Thomas Boathouse

Dylan Thomas was one of the greatest writers from Wales and a giant in the 20th century.
He was born in Swansea but his family roots were in Carmarthenshire and it was this county that provided him with a constant source of inspiration.
He lived at the Boathouse for the last four years of his life during which time many major pieces of work were written - including Under Milk Wood.

Laugharne Castle

Laugharne is perhaps best known for its associations with Dylan Thomas, but for the past 20 years, the picturesque castle, sited on the Taf estuary, has been the subject of painstaking archaeological investigation and gradual restoration. There was probably a Norman castle here by the early 12th century, though the upstanding remains can be traced back no further than the work of the de Brian family in the late 13th century. From the de Brians and their descendants, in 1488 the lordship and castle passed to the earls of Northumberland. In 1584, Elizabeth I granted Laugharne to Sir John Parrott, said to have been the illegitimate son of Henry VIII.

Pembrokeshire Candle Centre

The candle-making business at Cilgwyn was started 33 years ago by Inger and Brian John
In the early days of the business, Inger sold most of her dipped candles through the trade, however, the workshop began to attract visitors, and after many years of building up the business over 10,000 people call at the workshop each year.

Techniquest Science Discovery Centre - Cardiff Bay

Techniquest makes learning about science fun for all the family. The discovery centre houses 160 interactive exhibits designed to excite and educate both young and old. Since opening in the city centre in 1986 Techniquest has become increasingly popular and is now situated in Cardiff Bay. In addition to the exhibits, there are tours of the planetarium available and visitors can conduct their own experiments in the Discovery Room.
