Llyn Brianne Reservoir

Llyn Brianne reservoir was originally built to satisfy the growing demands of heavy industry in and around Swansea for water, notably the tin plate works at Felindre and a smelting plant at Llansamlet. Ironically, both these have since closed down and water from Llyn Brianne which is surplus to the Swansea area's needs now goes into the general supply, quenching thirsts all the way from Llanelli, across West and South Wales and as far East as Cardiff.
 

Lampeter Market Town

One of the earliest references to Lampeter, is in 1137, when Owain Gwynedd destroyed the Castle of Pont Stephen which had been built by the King (the remains of which are in the College Grounds). It is possible that there was another castle above the site of the present day church, although little is known of this. Lampeter was then mentioned by Gerald of Wales during his tour to raise an army for the Crusades and in 1284, a weekly Thursday market was granted to Rhys ap Meredith.
 

Lampeter Market Town

Lampeter is a small but busy market town in the Teifi Valley, home to the oldest University in Wales. During the summer, the famous Food Festival is held, along with a number of other events, such as the Rhys Thomas James Eisteddfod, and the Carnival.
