Penarth Marina

Penarth Marina is situated within the sheltered waters of Cardiff Bay and built around the basins of the historic Penarth Docks. The marina is an ideal location from which to enjoy Cardiff Bay and to explore the Bristol Channel and Severn Estuary and its many ports.

The marina provides a safe berth for resident or visiting craft and has 24 hour access via the Cardiff Bay Barrage.
 

Penarth Pier

Penarth, one of several major coal ports on the Welsh south coast, also boasted a resort that was competing in the lucrative paddle steamer trade across the Bristol Channel. In 1894 work began on a pier designed by H F Edwards and commissioned by the Penarth Promenade and Landing Pier Company Ltd. Under the management of the Mayohs brothers, Penarth Pier was completed the following year, opening on 4th February 1895.
 

Penarth Esplanade Gardens

During the Victorian era Penarth was a highly popular holiday destination, promoted nationally as “The Garden by the Sea” and was packed by visitors from the Midlands and the West Country as well as day trippers from the South Wales valleys mostly arriving by train.
 

Penarth Pier

Penarth Pier was constructed in 1894, opened in 1895 and is 219 yards / 658 feet in length. In 1907 a wooden pavilion was built at the seaward end that became a dance hall. In 1929 the existing pavilion entrance was built.
